| PERFORMANCE EVALUATION |
|
Measuring is the first step towards improvement. It is part of our philosophy that measuring performances is essential to maintain a continuous improvement. This principle does not apply only to manufacturing but also to R&D and Product development, areas that traditionally are regarded as impossible to evaluate through measures of efficiency and effectiveness. Our experience tells us that this is not the case and that the performances of these areas can be easily measured. The main indicators we normally propose are: For catalogue products: Number of active projects Average Time to market Project completed on time Actual resources used vs planned Project success (Resources spent by T&D vs results in terms of revenues and profits) Number of technical modifications and resources required Made to order products: Number of offers Average time from request to offer Number of offer revisions Success rate (orders received vs. offers issued) Projects completed on time Project success (Resources spent by T&D vs results in terms of revenues and profits) Other indicators Standardization indices (number of components/ subassemblies vs finished products). The larger the number of finished products that can be obtained with a smaller number of components or subassemblies the higher the level of standardization. The higher the level of standardization the lesser is the complexity that a company has to manage. |
